Community Retention Program in Montérégie-Centre

This project aims to increase the pool of human resources able to provide services in English in Montérégie-Centre by making the promotion of careers in health and social services, by developing and maintaining a student data bank as well as by holding linguistic and cultural adaptation activities.

The Assistance and Referral Center (ARC) works in close partnership with a number of partners (public health institutions, community organizations and Riverside School Board (RSB) and New Frontier School Board (NFSB) to foster an environment suitable to promote internships and careers in the health and social services sectors, as well as youth retention in the region of Montérégie-Centre for bilingual English-speaking students. The project includes: 1 - Activities of promotion with schools (meetings and video-conferences between high school students and health professionals, development and distribution of promotional tools, open door activities). 2 - Active participation to various regional committees and initiatives related to local and regional employment. 3 - Activities to facilitate the social integration of interns, collaboration with public health partners to encourage recruitment of interns. More precisely, ARC’s activities include: 1 – Reaching students via promotion activities in the educational network; 2 –Reaching students with the distribution of promotional material; 3 – Reaching students via videoconferences with health professionals; 3 – Reaching students by holding an information session between a health professional and students; 4 – Increasing the number of participants in its conversation club activities with health professionals; 5 – Increase its number of partners in Montérégie-Ouest, more specifically with schools in Candiac.
